WW1 helmet
« on: July 18, 2013, 07:46:32 am »
I got this helmet at a garage sale. Seller said it is a WW1 German helmet, but I don't think that is correct as it has a U.S. shield with stars and stripes on it. It has a name etched on the inside and appears to have been spray painted. It is similar to old Army dress helmets but those don't seem to be made of metal from what I have seen. I will attach pics separately.

Like you say, not a pickelhaube.

Looks a bit dodgy to me. Very poorly cast plate.

Looks more like it was intended for a lodge / society costume.

Could be someone's attempt at a re-enactment helmet ?
