Barn Owl Taxidermy
« on: July 21, 2013, 03:21:17 pm »
Hi all,

I have this Barn Owl Taxidermy that I'm looking to get rid of. Strangely all the local taxidermists have no idea where this comes from; I'm hoping someone may know something.

It seems to have been created by Shopland and Son, but I'm not too sure. I have attached a photo of the label.

As always, any input is much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Clint

Thanks for the link, bigwull.

I'm looking to get rid of it as some feathers are starting to come out and am hoping someone could do the necessary work to prevent further loss.

It's all in very good condition! I got offered £120 for the dome itself a few years ago, however I declined because I want to see it all kept together. I don't think I will get an offer like it again though!

Regards,

Clint

you may want to consider splitting..the two...the bird on its own..could easily fetch £50..and the dome...well over a 100..see this one here...ok, no buyers as yet, but 2 offers...
and from others that i,ve seen, prices range from £75...up to over £300

Do not sell it for that amount and don`t separate the two !! Just got through looking and with the dome and fair condition it would be between $500. and a grand according to what some are selling for !! Shopland had one on worthpoint and artfact but couldn`t see the prices !!

Thanks all for the information.

I had no idea of the potential value!

I have contacted a couple of taxidermists, so will see what they say!

I don't plan on splitting them as I feel it needs to all be kept together!

Regards,

Clint

what something sells for in the US ..is a lot different from what they can fetch here....everyone here knows that most  Americans are rich and can pay bigger bucks....where as us over here....we,re like Detroit....up to our eyeballs in debt....just take a look at what stuffed burdies are selling /not selling for in the UK...and if as Clint says..this barn owl is a bit moth eaten and losing its feathers...then.... there,s more chance of me learning Mandarin..than there is of him getting $1000 :D

Think you'd be lucky to see this go north of £200.

Wasn`t on artfact that those prices came from !! It was an auction house in the UK !!  That price was low according to some they had !!  They specialized in Victorian antiques !! I will see if I can find it again after dinner !!

You might want to search Snowy Owls, Grass Owls, etc.

I love it!!!

In my neck of the woods this would sell for $200 - $350 depending on condition!!!

Don't let it go for little!!!
