Cast iron cannon
« on: July 23, 2013, 10:58:58 am »
This cannon is very old and looks like it might be able to fire

There is writing on the side "alma"

This is very heavy and the barrel is hollow and there is a place to put a wick

Approx size 6"height x 14"length

Does any one know anything about this?

There  is a bar missing that holds the barrel on

Many of these replica cannons do fire so be careful with it !!  A boy died last year playing with one !! You can find these on ebay with prices ranging from $39. up !! Yours looks like some of the French ones I have seen !!

Alma.is Spanish, and Portuguese for ..soul,...as Mart says, these model cannons, especially cast iron ones...can be dangerous...if an attempt is made to fire them,.i have one, but it is made of phosphorus bronze....which is far more stable....value for this piece could be quite good, as a guesstimate, i,d say £50+
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,
