Bronze lady lamp??
« on: July 27, 2013, 01:52:02 pm »
Hi

I hope someone can help me or give me some information. I have a rather heavy bronze table lamp, it's a woman holding a basket of fruit with 3 frosted lamps above her head. .I cannot find any stamps or signature on the piece anywhere. I have searched the internet and found similar pieces, but nothing at all on  this particular one. Are there any makers that did not sign their pieces? I have attached a photo... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll give it a shot......though copying the 'sideways' one it turned up in my album right way up, so not sure which way it'll flip in the transition.

Lisa, could you take off a shade or two and get some close ups of the electrical components. Is the base fixed to the figure or can it be removed or opened in any way?  Do you have any history on the lamp and where are you located?

thank you Fancypants!!!!     It was bought at an antique shop that was going out of business.. I know nothing about it at all. It was a beautiful piece and i couldn't pass it up. The base does not come off... it seems to be all one piece. i tried the magnet trick.. the Posts where the lamp shades are seem to be metal, but the actual base i thought was bronze.. it weighs a good 40 pounds or so. I've tried countless times to find info about it on the Internet.. To no avail.  I have more pictures.. And again, I do not have a laptop or a digital camera. So I apologize ahead of time for the pictures.  I am located in NC

Delightful little bronze figural table lamp , Lisa1976 !

I can certainly see how it held/holds appeal to you !

I am very curious to see ( in the event that you might provide one or two pics) one of the 'tulip-style' lampshades (disassembled/removed) & it's mounting hardware on the lamp itself .

Sometimes bronze pieces are hand-engraved , in some cases with less than 1/8 of an inch tall lettering/markings , and such sigs can take a really good going-over with a 10x magnifier or better , to find (these marks are once-in-awhile well hidden & in unexpected places) !

Can't really tell for sure from your pics , but there appears to be terminal-block type electrical connections in the base of your item ... is this so , or am I seeing things ?

no you,re not seeing things..its a terminal block.....which would indicate a recent rewire...by recent i mean anytime in the last good few years...

More pics..  I have always thought that the lamp shades and rod looked out of place, could it be possible that this was originally a statue...but made into a lamp after the fact?

I would call this a "Newel Post Lamp".

Am I seeing right, are those Phillips head screws on the bracket holding the upright rods to the back of the figure?
