Persian Decanters
« on: August 03, 2013, 08:10:33 am »
I bought the two pictured decanter sets from a small antique shop in Burnet, Tx. The owner there told us that they had been sold to her by a serviceman who had been stationed in Persia which is now Iran. There are no markings what-so-ever anywhere on these but they appear to be a set. Has anyone seen anything like these or know of somewhere I can find out if they're worth anything?

Can you take a couple of close up pics with the decanter and one glass showing !! Top is cut off in the first pic and with the glasses in front can`t see much of the decanter itself !! Only need one glass since they are all the same !!  Also a pic of the bottom of each decanter if possible !!

Hope these will work. A close-up of each decanter with 1 glass and the bottom of each.

I wondered the same thing !!  And all the decanters I looked at were not glass but were enameled brass !!  These show little decoration and are nothing like the ones I looked at !!  Of course they could be more modern sets intended just for sale !! Are not hand blown that I could tell !!

Maybe they were both for tea? Regarding Iran and liquor here's an interesting link that someone sent me awhile back:

From the style of yours I would guess they were made 1960 or 70`s !! Its not typical of most older sets !! And if you are selling it here in the states and because it doesn`t have the ornamentation that is typical of the area I would think it would bring about the same as any other from that time period !! A nice set would make $ 60. to $100. !!

Thanks Mart, I've got some questions tomorrow I'll ask about some cobalt blue glass items I've acquired.
