History on a booklet I Have; My Trip To Berlin1929????
« on: August 03, 2013, 05:07:44 pm »
I have a soft covered booklet that looks to be covered in a red leather or suede. On the front of the booklet it says on the upper left hand side; MY
                                                 TRIP
                                                 TO
                                                 BERLIN
                                                 1929

Underneath that is what looks like a little metal pin that say; BOSTON, U.S.A.

The booklet let is blank except for the very last page that says;

For the production of this booklet
     we thank the following:

     Printing
     THE STETSON PRESS, Boston

Printed on AURELIAN, furnished by the
     WORTHY PAPER COMPANY ASSOCIATION of
     Mittineague, Mass., thru their distributors
ARTHUR E. HAM & SONS, Boston

     Binding
     FRANK BROWN'S BINDERY, Boston

When I looked up the business I couldn't find any information on them or this booklet can someone please help?

It helps if we can see the book !! Chances are it is just a blank book sold by the publisher for a group trip !! Printed as a journal and given or sold to those making the trip !!  I take it that "My Trip to Berlin" was printed on front by the publisher ??  Keeping a journal back then was popular !! Cameras were rare !!

I agree with Mart judging from what I can't see. Tourist guide sounds correct. In between wars in that short period of peace but not really.

Wullie, are you trying to say Capisce? Pronounced Ca-peesh-ay. Like Steve Martin said as Vinnie Antonelli in My Blue Heaven, "your hurting my ears." In this case my eyes.

I would never try to speak in your Highland dialect, so I give you credit for your attempt at Neapolitan. Pronounced Nah-po-li-don. I am Irish American so what the hell do I know? When you grow up in NJ where I did, you absorb Italian by osmosis. I make a great ma-dee-nar. Spelled marinara. Means mariners sauce and used for mixed seafood originally.

Do you actually like Haggis? That one would be a stretch for me.

my old Da,came to this country in 45 and only spoke Russian and German....and he learned English the hard way,.....no books, no tutors...just...lis tening and learning....he would say words as he saw them...and i,m the same....as for Haggis...well...you "Should" try it....its wonderful,....a friend of mine in Germany, once said to me after i,d cooked a Haggis,....that we were to have for dinner,..."whats in it "..i said i,ll tell you after you,ve eaten it,....afterwards, he said to me .."i really enjoyed that"..now tell me what it was made of...I said, "well, if i do tell you...you may not want to keep it inside you....he smiled and said....Mmm!...i understand.....
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

I amstaying with my original post !! This was done as a journal for a group trip !! If you notice,, they are thanking those that donated time and supplies to have them done !! First is the publisher, then the paper supplier, and last the binding !!  Perhaps a church or civic group !!

Thank you so much! I found it in a trunk when I moved into a new house. I am guessing it has no value then? Do you think that it would be fine for me to use it as a journal for myself?

Not a great value,, Maybe $10. Now if it had some historical account written,, or if a well known person had owned and written in it,, value might be different !!  Of course it is fine to use for yourself !!  You might consider dating it in the front so years from now it isn`t taken that you made the trip in 1929 !!  Don`t know your age but I would not want to explain that one !!  I look old enough as it is !!   ;)
