Sheridan Silversmiths Tea Set
« on: August 04, 2013, 06:23:25 pm »
Firstly I'd like to say that all you folks here are great. I really appreciate the replies and advice I've gotten here so far. Next, I've got quite a few silver plate items that I'd like to post photos of and ask questions about. Is there such a thing here as posting too much? Here is the first item. This is a Sheridan Silversmith's Tea set. I've posted a photo of the bottom of one of the items. It says "Sheridan Silversmiths" below the Sheridan marks it says "Hand Chased" oddly on the creamer, which I'm posting the photo of the bottom of, under "Hand Chased" looks like some numbers but I can't make them out. We bought this in Galveston at the Antique Warehouse which is located on The Strand.

They weren`t incorporated till 1946 and I think they were out of business by the 80`s !!

I can find from your link this SHERIDAN SILVER CO INC - Taunton MA, however on the bottom of ours it says 'Sheridan Silversmiths', I guess this can be considered the same? I can't find just Sheridan Silversmiths.

Thank you, I like the fact that the design was done by hand.

Here is another one even a little different !! I found several versions of the wording !!  This company was a subsidiary of Lenox at one time and was purchased by another company after that and they continued using the Sheridan name so there could be many versions depending on the current owner and their whim !!

Found this at a site called 'whatsitworthtoyou.c om

Sheridan Silver Co., Inc.Taunton, Massachusetts, originated in 1944 as the C & C Silver company by Joseph Caiozzo and Harry Carmody. Incorporated in 1946 as Sheridan Silver Co. Inc. The largest of the independent silver manufacturers, production is limited to plated silver, still operates today.
