Need Help With A Antique Sewing Sampler
« on: August 21, 2013, 11:35:58 am »
I need your help identifying the age of this Sewing Sampler. I know sometimes they have the date incorporated into the piece but this one doesn't. It looks like its very old, the back of the frame is heldi t with a sheet of wood. The fabric is yellowed/browned from the age of it and is hand sewn. Is a scenario of two ladies having tea and are dressed in crinoline/hoop skirt dresses. Other than that, that's all I know about it. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Most samplers were before 1920 !! They were usually much more involved that this !! What you have is a piece of cross stitch needlework from around 1930 or 40 !! These were popular items for ladies to make and hang on kitchen walls !!  Many were done on unbleached muslin which is dark to start with and over the years it ages to look much older than the actual age !!
