I don't believe the portrait of that couple was ever used in that particular frame, other than for a backing. If you notice, the frame was designed to be hung one way only.

I was referring to the face of the frame which has an asymmetrical design. It would look rather odd hanging on its side. ;)

Ther was a sight listed on here that will try to find the families of lost photos. You could search for it if your interested. I think it's in thw talk  forum. If anything it an interesting read.

Actually I didn`t notice that till you mentioned it  Rauville !!  Said that more for a joke than serious thinking !! Hasn`t anyone seen shows on TV where the mean old mothers pic was turned to the wall and when she came to visit they flipped them the correct way !! I think Carol Burnet/Tim Conway/Harvey Korman did a skit with that theme on one of her shows !!
When I taught my art class I was always buying frames here and there,,you would be surprised at how some were used when money was tight !!
