All Longines have a serial number, which will enable you to date the watch.
As Ipcress says, it's important to see the inside

I would buy it !!  Just checked at NAWCC and the Gold Medal was awarded at (I think) Paris Exposition 1878,, but this watch may have been made much later than that,,,1889 or after since the trademark used wasn`t registered before then (hour glass was used but winged hourglass was reg. 1889) !! If you can find the serial number you can use that to date it !!  Nice watch and several experts at NAWCC thought highly of them so pretty good buy !!

Is there a serial number on the inside of the case?

It does look like a nice watch, and I love Longines ... I have a 1974 Conquest, very understated and very reliable.

There are two for sale here, from $249 to $110, but the second  probably  has a low tag for the general state of the piece (but neither have any bids yet). The one you're looking at seems to be a nice example.

Look at the pics and you'll see the Longines serial number on the inside of the back case, yours should also be there, from which you will be able to date it. See here...

Spending $150 in the hope of selling it straight away for a profit might not be easily realised, bear in mind if you sold on ebay then you'd have to resell it for $170 just to break even. Pocket watches, even Longines, are not as much in demand as Longines wristwatches.... but condition is all important, and that one does look nice (but impossible to say anything for certain from the pics). You also have to be assured that it is working perfectly, if not then (here where I am and from a very friendly, inexpensive, old style watch repairer), it would be another $40 + for a service. If you can guarantee it has recently been serviced then people will pay a little more $ for peace of mind.
I presume the case is silver, and if I bought it  I'd be interested in inspecting the decoration. I would then decide on a good price and stick to it. It isn't something that you'd want to start at 0.99c
If you are still thinking of buying it, ask them for a photo of the inside of the case. also a better one of the outer case

If ebay is what you have in mind,, its a crap shoot any way you go !! You just never know who will be shopping for one !! The listings looked favorable on your link but what do you need as profit margin ??

Hi Artx,

With that quality of watch I would expect the decor to be gold, which would be a bonus.
No, I don't repair watches, I often use a watch and clock repairer who takes great pride in his work and could charge twice as much and still be inexpensive.
