I recently found an old stringed instrument in an attic in Virginia. Not knowing much about these sort of items, I assumed it was some sort of lute. However, the body is not quite so round but more oblong. It is also a deep body, definitely not thin. It has 4 long pegs on top (a couple broken ones) and many along the left side. No sound hole but it does have hide stretched over the body. Nylon strings. Can anyone help me identify this?
