Old Revolutionary War Veteran Cemetery Flag Marker
« on: September 24, 2013, 06:34:51 pm »
I found this over the weekend at the local salvage shop, thought it was too cool to pass up. Its stamped Trenton Emblem Co Trenton NJ on the back. The problem is what to do with it. eBay won't allow it to be sold since it is used. Any suggestions?

It's 6 inches across. I thought the rings on the back were made to slide down over a flag pole.

A lot of times these were stolen.

Couldn`t slide it down over a flagpole would have to slide up,, but then 6 inches across doesn`t seem large enough for a grave marker !!

Seems like these are markers placed on graves of Revolutionary War Veterans back in the 30`s by D.A.R !!   Probably had a stake or something in the ground then this marker slid over it !!

If you want it back on a veteran's grave, I know some people who do wonderful cemetery work on the east coast that would be very happy to do that.

What I don,t get is....why can,t you sell it on ebay....you can sell your granny on ebay, a girl sold her virtue...i can buy war relics..i.e. German Helmets that have had a dead head inside it at some point...but you can,t advertise this.....if you ask me...re-advertise it...but leave out the cemetery bit....i,d lay odds that you,ll get it on...

What gets me is that there is currently one on Etsy almost identical to mine for $95. Apparently Etsy is a little more flexible than the lords of eBay.

I also agree with Tales. This is someone's marker. I'm sure the family would gladly buy it back if you found them. I know there are collecters, but in this case I respect ebay on this.

Did you ever stop to think...its possible...the family..got rid of it...not everyone is sentimental....for if they were...then auction houses would,nt have lots marked..Deceased,s Estate...everyone is different...take me for instance...i,ve got 2 pots in my shed...one contains my mothers ashes..and the other  is  my fathers...half of which I  took back to the Ukraine...

These were bulk type markers,, all made alike with no names on them !! Almost impossible to track one down !! The DAR had these made to mark Revolutionary War Veterans graves back in the 30`s !! That's all it says so tracking would be almost impossible !!
