Red Lacquer

I recently bought a red lacquer vase. I have researched and found out a lot about red lacquer. I know that the piece I have got is reckoned to be ching dynasty. It is beautifully carved. How can I tell if it is early 20th century, made of cinnabar and not just a beautifully carved fake which my hunches are pointing me towards? I would be grateful for advise, journal or book reference or web site. Thank you very much.
