Where to look for Ruger Pistol model number
« on: October 02, 2013, 08:13:56 am »
I've looked all over the outside of this firearm and can't find anything that would indicate the model number. I see some numbers (112178) which I assume is the serial number. It also says "Sturm, Ruger & Co., Southport, Conn., USA" and "22 Caliber Long Rifle Automatic Pistol". Maybe Ruger didn't have model numbers?

The first firearm Ruger manufactured starting in 1949 was the 22 automatic pistol like yours...and was simply called that.
The catalog listed them as a Standard 22 Automatic Pistol, and a later model was identified as the Mark I.

You can check the serial number here:

its such a shame that you classify a beaver...as a varmint....they have recently been re-introduced to Scotland...and are protected by law....

Your Ruger if a red label is worth around $400. or a bit more !!  Black label is about $150. to $200. !!

Another great gun! I've fired thousands of rounds through one that looks very similar. I remember the one I used to use was an early 1960s one.
Take every price I say with a grain of salt...
