I want to post this on ebay soon, but I'm not sure when it was made.  2 inscriptions have 1840 written down.  Can anyone read the hand written names?

Originally published 1704, this is the 1744 edition with a new preface by Georgii Pritii.

It says 5 Parts - are they all bound in that one volume ?

You have a C F Schumacher from Schlewswig in Denmark / Germany 1840

Then later someone in Port Arthur, Texas

Thanks for the help   I haven't attempted to browse it too much, since I can't read it.  It's 900 pages. I'll have to google a little bit to see if all the volumes are inside.

Just look for the title pages. You don't have to understand it.

I just have to ask--I have seen on antique roadshow--bibles normally don't sell for much--what makes one bible worth so much more--or is it in the eye of the beholder?  As in their name?

Bibles - depends on when, where and who printed it. Tales' bible, as well as having family connections, is a famous bible for a misspelling - should say ' aprons ' but says ' breeches ' and so is known as The Breeches Bible

This is more a commentary / lexicon and so not as valuable.

Most 19th century bibles printed in the UK are worth between pennies and £50, unless the binding is top quality, but i did see a mid 19th century American bible make mega money ( think it was printed in Philadelphia )
