Penoch Woods Estate
« on: October 05, 2013, 01:49:53 pm »
I wasn't sure where i wanted to post this, but I got lucky today. Penoch Woods was donated to the Horticultural Society. Mr. Penoch and his wife had no children. It's open all year for selling plants and gifts, but once a year they open the house. It is the same as when it was donated. Inside and out. It's just breath taking.

Mr. Penoch was a florist. The house was a gift, although he paid $15,000. They must have loved nature

I could have taken a ton of photo but I didn't have time. I've been inside before, but time I see new things.  What I find interesting is it's so charming, not like the new houses of today. Giant and austere.  These house don't have eat in kitchens. They had servants. The kitchen is small. What are those lizards? I love them.

A lot of these old houses are for sale. The up keep and taxes are high. To me well worth it if you can afford it.
