Identify Copper Item
« on: October 07, 2013, 12:29:39 pm »
This one has me really stumped. I heard it was possible something to do with Tea, but i am not sure.  As you can see it all fits together in one container, it has a fold out handle. The cap bottom of the one piece comes off and has some type of "Grater" under neath.

So any ideas?

Post a good clear pic of the grater ?? Its most likely a strainer and would hold the coffee while water would go through it !!  Same as old percolaters did !!

This "grater"...i assume you mean the little round thing in the forefront....if it has holes in it..then its not a grater,...its where the coffee grinds go....

The Grater is in the first photo on the bottom left. Its a thin and flat disk (but with the bumps)  No Holes. Deff a grater.

What would they use the grate for?  for grinding/grating the beans?

Or for nutmeg. It looks small. You would put the nutmeg and it slides against the grater.

Yes its sharp.

the thing that drives me crazy about items like this is when i cant find Another one very similar to it online. I highly doubt its a one of a kind.   The way it all pieces together is real neat, like its for traveling.

Sure looks like a nutmeg/spice grater to me!!!

Are there any identifying marks on the item anywhere????

Believe this is for spices!  And is for a hot beverage as well....so tea or coffee....

I'd guess that the grinder/grater function of your cool little item was intended for use with chocolate-related beverages !
