There are many reproductions of these and others !!  Look for the tiny print at the bottom or back !! There is printing at the bottom of the Salem sign !! What does it say ??

They look repro to me, in both production and design.

The kind of metal they are made of...will tell you more....if they are made of...enamelled tin....then they could well be genuine....if on the other hand..they are aluminium....then.. .they,re most likely repo,s...

first we have to determine what metal they are made of....does a magnet stick to them....if it does...then they could be genuine...but if they are aluminium...then they are more likely..repo,s

Well, as Mart would say..lets have a look at the back....i think the Doubtful Dinahs on here were expecting them to be made of Aluminium...i can,t see repo,manufacturers going to the trouble of making them from tin then having them enamelled...how thick is the tin...it should be approx 2/3mm...and not bendy...if they are genuine...and its looking that way..then..they are most likely from the era ....when....adverti sements for cigarettes...told us they were good for you, and gave you pleasure....1950,s/60,s...

These could possible be originals.  Note the ruler on the bottom of pics...these are SMALL ones, not the large poster size!

Still need to see the back of them to verify!

If original, they seem to be in nice shape.  Can't tell from pic if it is glare or bending on the bottom left hand corner of the Salem pic.

Only thing that kinda looks "odd" to me is that the top 2 pics are really shiny and the bottom one is more dull/less reflective which is more commensurate with age.  However, if they are enamel and they weren't exposed to elements they could have possible kept their sheen.

If those are originals they are in amazing condition.  It could be they are originals and have been reconditioned.   My question does repainting or touching up destroy the value?

Lots on ebay...found 30 on first page....prices ranging from....$10...to $300+...if your signs are genuine....the enamel...will be porcelain....I have a German street sign which is metal...and it was then dipped in liquid porcelain then baked in a kiln....this was the method used well into the 50,s/60,s for most enamelled signs...
