Anyone have some thoughts on these vintage paintings?
« on: October 15, 2013, 07:03:29 pm »
I got these a while ago and they are nicely done little paintings.  They are 5" x 4".  They name a place on the back but not much more information.

Can`t get the pics to enlarge to see the back but I can tell you they are 70`s or 80`s Bob Ross style !!  These were sold in smaller department stores !! I did have a pair myself and still have the 30`s style frames I put them in !!  Didn`t keep the little pics though !!

Bob Ross was so cool.  Watched his show forever.  How could you forget that hair.

Yes !! Little tiny oils and mine had a name too as most did but forgot who !!  Had quite a bit of texture to the paintings !! This style painting is quite simple to do !!  I can do a 16X20 landscape with mountains, a stream, trees ect in slightly over an hour using this method !! Uses big brushes, palette knife and a fan brush mostly !!

He was fun to watch !!  I started painting before I ever heard of him but many followed his method !!

Sounds more like a place than a name !!  These were produced in bulk !!

Tourist fodder,...the St Charles Bridge in the other half of Slovakia...the Czech R...has artists by the dozen selling...similar, as does the Banks of the Seine in Paris on a Sunday...paintings. ..personally...they are just a couple of steps above .."painting by numbers" :D
