found this looking through a box of my grandpas old findings and collectibles from metal detecting/saving, he had a stroke a while back and left all this stuff to me, really trying to find out what this may be, cant really find any info about it on the net, its clearly old and has been found metal detecting because it had dirt on it,

Take a pic of it on white paper. Your camera can't cope with the multi depth environment and has focused more on your face !  ;D

Because the feathers are all to one side rather than down the back,,,it evidently was attached to something and came off !!  Doesn't stand by itself either looks like !!

Where are you located?  That is really cool.  Are you selling it on Ebay?  I'm part Native American and that is an awesome piece.  Even if not off a reservation.

I am thinking it may have came off of a belt buckle !! Its very flat on the back !!  Probably another on the opposite side with feathers the other way !!

Have you ever researched what the property was before the area was built on?

Just a guess, but to me it looks like a toy made with a home casting outfit...and someone cast it without the base.
