Antique metal/copper/tin wind up toy/knick knack
« on: October 23, 2013, 12:32:25 pm »
My wife's grandmother used to have a metal/copper/tin (not sure which) wind up toy/knick knack.  It was of a building or house and had a truck and trailer/car that went in through the building, out the back and then back around.  The toy was about one foot by one foot and about a foot tall.  It was copper or tin in color and light weight.  Age range around 40-50 years (maybe).... My wife's birthday is coming up and I have been trying to find one or find something out about it so I can locate on for her.  Any help is appreciated.

More info I just got from my wife's sister.  The toy was more than likely copper.  It was an old shed looking building with a model T or A type vehicle that went in and around it.  She said that it had sharp edges and would cut you if you weren't careful.  The whole thing was about the size of a piece of paper or w bit bigger.  You are right, it is a shot in the dark.  I've been to every antique shop, searched online, asked in forums.. you name it.  so far, no luck.  Oh, the item was her Great Grandmothers, not grandmothers.  So its at the minimum 40-50 years old.

US or UK ?

Good that you've found it. There were several of these in the UK. Technofix made a multi-storey garage with a lift

I'm guessing what he was looking for is more along the line of this one. Made in Hong Kong...
