lol you guys are an amusing bunch. So the consensus is pretty much that I've either got a little snuff box, pill box or teeny tiny trinket box*? I suppose without any markings etc, there's not much more we can learn about it.. Shame. Still  :) I appreciate the help!

LOL !!  There ya` go Wullie !!

They made many of these tiny containers and were used interchangeably !! They believed in multiple use !!

I remember having a small Alpaca Silver box about this size once that had a tiny set of rosary beads in it.

I'm thinking you could use it for a ring box.  A lot of ladies like to take their rings off when doing dishes ect.  This would make sure they wouldn't get lost.
