"schwarzburger wurkstatten porzillin"

Porcelain from the art deco era ca. 1920s-30s.

A quick search on e-bay using the above keywords reveals alot of expensive items.  Definitely worth spending some time on research!

Its at times like this when translation of German words into English can be hilarious....Schwar zburger..becomes Blackburger....whic h brings to memory the hilarious translation of Gen, Norman Schwarzkopf...into English....Gen Norman Blackhead...also known as a zit.... ::)

Little info here and some examples of their work !! If this is one of the early pieces you might have a good one !! They employed the finest artists !! I will try to find more on them tomorrow !!

maybe someone contemplated making it into a lamp...or thats whats holding the base together....either way..this will affect its value as a buyer would be put off by this...as they would suspect the worse..i.e. its been damaged..and this has been glued on to strengthen the base

you may well be right Mart,..that hole in the strap is threaded,...which indicates that it may have been bolted to a base at some point,...perhaps to stop anyone half inching  it... ;D.....which translates into.."if its not bolted down its coming with me"

Good thinking Bigwull,  ;D ;D all you would need is a piece of this threaded pipe (used in lamps) because that bracket hole is a "special" thread size.

Nudes were very popular in the early 1900's.  The maker you cited is one that does/did high quality work.  I am scratching my head on this one...because the mark doesn't fit...and the quality is questionable (from the picture?)  Maybe a better close up of the mark (and right side up).

As for the metal piece on the bottom....if you remember the mantel sets were very popular during the heyday of these items and it could have been mounted next to a clock or part of a candelabra set.
