What are these?
« on: November 19, 2013, 12:17:53 pm »
My Dad bought these pieces in college during the 70's. He paid 25 cents for each of them. Nobody seems to know what they are. The one that is pistol shaped opens on the end. I'm not certain on the use, worth, name, era, or anything else. They look very old and crudely made. Anybody have an idea? Anything would be helpful!

I guess that I should've posted the size. They pistol looking thing fits in the palm of my hand and you can pull the "trigger" with your fingers. The T shaped tool is the same size roughly. I can take more pictures when I get home. I can't find any markings on them.

The T shaped "tool" is almost like a dull blade on the bottom. It's also got golden colored bands and what appear to be skulls on it. I've thought about the black powder gun use for the pistol shaped tool. I'm really not certain that's what it is though.

One of them (calf leg shaped one) is an antique mid-east powder flask for gunpowder. Here's one like it for sale. I agree with the comments above, the other looks like a tamper/ram of some sort:

Anybody have an idea about the anchor shaped item? Thanks for the info on the powder flask! That's great!

looking at those pics again, those 2 straight pieces look like they are ear  danglers...cos that little clasp sure looks like its meant to clamp on an ear lobe,as the the anchor...it looks like a tamping tool,i can imagine holding that in your palm,.with the straight part protruding between your fingers

Is the first one able to fit in the palm of your hand?  Does it look like the ends of the "pick" areas have wear.  I have seen versions of these used to break up ice in an ice bucket.  They used to make all kinds of ornate ones before you could get automatic ice in the fridge.

If it is smaller, have seen only a few (and not as ornate) that were used as a multi-use tool to tap, break, pry, etc. Were used out hunting, camping, etc.

Agree on the powder flask.  Ya'll done good.

Did the pointed item come with the flask?
