What kind of wood?
« on: November 24, 2013, 09:52:29 pm »
I would like to know what kind of wood these cupboard doors are made with? I have 4 doors and all are of the same wood.
I only have the one close up of the wood but would be happy to take more if it is not enough.
I got them a long time ago when an old MN house was being moved.
Thank you!

I would say it's Douglas Fir.  Wondering where the OP is located or where the cabinet doors came from, that would give some indication.  GG

Thanks Mart, I didn't realize that was what was meant by an old MN house, I thought it was a typo or something!  I still think it's Douglas Fir.  GG

Looks like plain old straight grained oak to me !! It would not be pine I know !!  No one with good sense would put leaded glass in a pine frame !! Grain isn`t right anyway for that !! Oak is what was commonly used !!

Now who would have that shipped to MN to build a cabinet out of?

I think Bigwull is just anti-Oak.  ;D ;D
