Hi I have a HL&Co (Hamiliton Laidlaw) tea set that has a milk jug sugar bowel and tea pot, the markings are on the milk jug and milk jug but not on the sugar bowel which is exactly the same, anyway I know the manufacture but it also has 5006 and A1 on there does anyone know what this means please,  many thanks

A1 is for superior quality silver plate from Sheffield
5001 is probably the design / pattern number

Any chance of pics ?

Does your sugar bowl have  lid?

This mark was registered 1924 - 1927.

5006 is the company's product number.
A1 is a United States marking that many companies put on silver plate to mean that it is high quality silver plated (not solid silver or would be marked sterling silver).

Pretty sure these are British, KC. That's why i said Sheffield for A1.

Also the houses through the window and the Mitre football on the floor...i'd be gobsmacked if they were in the US  ;)
