Antique Brass Pestle & Mortar
« on: December 05, 2013, 09:17:45 am »
Hello everyone
I had an old pestle and mortar sitting around and I have saw a few of those go on Ebay for $50 to $100 and sometimes more. I figured I might try to put mine on and see what I can get for it. I would like to know when it dates from and where it's from. I would also like to know an approximate value if anyone knows because all of the ones I've looked at are different from mine and the prices are very different on all of them. I'm pretty sure it's real brass and there are a lot of reproductions around but I'm not entirely sure.

Some of the pictures are with flash on and some are with flash off.

Looks to me with this design Spanish or Portuguese . But is not looking to old to me . Maybe fifties or sixties . Normally if used it looks more battered during the years .

just because it loolks unused...does,nt mean its not old,...i,ve got one here, that was given to my late mother in the 1940,s.....its never been out of its box...maybe this one had a careful owner....because after all....its only for trushing....seeds etc.....therefore how battered could it become....
I make no excuses,and no apologies....but i like a good Malt,

So Mart, with this sleet/ice storm we are having...you are turning your computer upside down and looking at the forum from a different angle?  LOLOL

Went to get milk at the store and the stores are all sold out!!!!!!!!  You would think we were going to be iced in for a month!  I feel so sorry for those cows trying to catch up for the buying frenzy!  The service stations were backed up as well and gas prices a little raised!  :O
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

We have a shop and a welder and all kinds of spare parts,, I would come up with something to roll behind the old gray mare with gas prices that high !! And she is 15 hh so she is big enough !! Could just drive the RTV but wouldn`t be near as much fun !!  ;D
