Description help needed on lamp, I always get confused
« on: December 11, 2013, 08:32:30 pm »
Is it Colonial or Victorian?  Any other information would be helpful too.  I got this for resale but after turning it on I think I am in love with it.  Breath taking in person.  I know it's not to some peoples taste but in my next life I want to be this lamp. ;D  Can't believe the shade is with it.  Most of the shades for these lamps are long gone.

Mart,

Colonial dresses had the wide hips; Victorian dresses had the large posterior.  Am I right? (For my own education.)

It is actually 20" tall even though it looks small in the pictures.  Hand painted.  Such craftsmanship way back when.

LOL !! That's close enough for government work as the saying goes !! But there were variations in both eras !!

18th century to Regency period. Never Victorian.

Now I would describe that difference as being ..... "wide hips" verses "protruding posterior". ;D ;D
