Wooden thimble and holder
« on: December 13, 2013, 09:28:11 pm »
Greetings,

Okay, here's one to banter around: a wooden thimble and holder. The bottom has no markings, but does have a felt pad. It was bought back in the 1990's. Maybe a woodworking class project? Got me!

The 'potty' came with a pot metal thimble. Bought in the '90s, too. It made me laugh.

We used to call it Treen Ware too. At least us old timers did.

Have to agree with the "oldies" on here!  :)

The patterns/shapes of these are among the more common in style and don't command a valuable price.  If you had ones that were carved in the shape of people, animals, common objects...they command a higher value.  Also the really old ones do as well.

Nice pieces though!!!

These were bought back when I was raising a family of four on a welder's salary only. Probably didn't pay more than $15.00 for each.  I thought I would bring them out of storage and share.
