Spotted this on UK ebay...and almost fell off my perch when i saw the postage cost...let alone the asking price...of the Pedesta :P ;D

I question if it pays. Wouldn't it be better to wait and purchase in your own area.

greenacres, i always look at total cost (item and shipping) and decide would I be better off buying it in my area versus the total cost!

I did something similar in 2006,I,d sold a large RC model of a Kingtiger, 5.5ft long x 2.5ft wide, and weighing over 90kg,..the guy lived in Kristiansand in Norway,.the cost of the crate was going to be over £100 + the carriage costs were £475....then it needed insured, and it may have got damaged in transit,....I contacted DFDS, ferries in Newcastle,...the cost of a return ticket to Stavanger was only £209 as it was low season,..fuel costs to and from Newcastle was £65, and from Stavanger to Kristiansand the same,..as i tanked up in the UK,...and i got a weeks holiday out of it and got to meet that Giant Moose,....on the way,+ i made some Norwegians happy when i sold them some Vodka,and Whisky, at UK prices,...which were low at £8 per bottle, compared with Norways £40 per bottle,

I find the Fedex Ground is cheaper than the post office today.
I my eBay days I mailed all kinds of things. The worst was a Howard Miller 1950's Boomerang Coffee Table. I unscrewed the legs and now I had to get it into a box that was under the maximum postal size. Picture the shape and then try to box it as small as possible. It was the weirdest looking package that took a couple of hours of cutting and folding. When I got to the post office they only knew length, width and height. One person wanted to measure it from point to point in a straight line x 2, the other wanted to measure down the outside angle x the widest spot x the height which was all of 2 1/2 inches. It caused a great debate and also got all the people waiting on line annoyed. Finally the supervisor intervened and said "let it go and if it comes back it is his (meaning me) problem." Fortunately it never came back.
 The next worst thing was a big Flexible Flyer sled. They thought I was shipping a late relative.

this seller is at it,....I just did a courier enquiry for shipping a package with similar dimensions,...Destination...Boliver Missouri,..the package measured 3ft high x 20in x 20in and the weight was 15kg or 31lbs approx ...thats allowing 8lbs over the weight of the pedestal....for packaging...total cost £125 + 20% vat ...which makes it £150....or $240....I,ve sent the seller an enquiry listing my quote,..

I want to know what they have for an excuse?  haha   I sent a seller a note the other day because they were passing off a painting as a Hudson River School and it was way not.  They didn't care they were misrepresenting it at all.   Bet this seller has some lame story about shipping.  Can't wait to hear it. lol  With any luck you will at least make them nervous.
