Carved Horse
« on: December 27, 2013, 12:35:28 pm »
Greetings,

Y'all must be getting tired of me by now! :D

Was wondering if someone can help me with the pink horse shown. About 3" high. Purchased it in the 1980's from a gift store. Unsure of the kind of stone; maybe chalcedony? Value?

Thanks!

Jade comes in pink but it is very rare. If you put "pink Jade Horse" into Google Images you will see a picture puzzle of one. Onyx can be pink too but it is usually striated with another color. It could also be carved glass that was polished. In other words, I really don't know.

I saw the same thing frogpatch. I was thinking it's too pink. Something just doesn't look right.

I'll dig it out again and see if there are any mold lines.  Hey, worse comes to worse, I'll give it to my horse crazy granddaughter.

Does it feel cold and heavy?  Real stone is cold to touch!

Found it here, under "Pink Peking Glass Horse": http://www.pinterest.com/pin/175781191676818738/
Unfortunately, there's no price.

Did find blue one, which appears to be painted...don't think info or price is accurate! http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOLIDAYS-GIFT-SUPERB-CHINESE-PEKING-GLASS-FIGURE-OF-A-TURQUOISE-HORSE-W-STAND-/360817026673?pt=Asian_Antiques&hash=item54025ee671
