silver pedastel dish and creamer
« on: February 05, 2014, 04:00:08 pm »
I have these couple items, but so much Oneida stuff that I can not locate it. If there is any silver collectors can tell me more about it I'd appreciate it. The creamer has double lions and in shield it has O L under it is oneida USA under it and that's the markings. Can't get it in image. The pedestal has oneida silversmiths and that's it.

Oneida was made by Williams & Rogers.  Look at the fist block in this link  http://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_O.html    1881 Silver Plate

That is the mark on the creamer, but not the pedestal. The pedestal just has oneida silversmiths  on it any  idea of age or value. How can I tell if its not silver plate?

To tell if it is not silver plate it will be stamped into the item, "Sterling" or will have "925" as the purity mark,,Not all silver plate is marked as such but most of it is !!

Oneida was made by Williams & Rogers.  1881 Silver Plate

Don't mean to be picky ...... but you got that backwards.

It just caught my attention because I was in a group that was invited to a "special" tour of the Oneida facility and the "Blue Room" in the museum in Oneida, NY.
