family heirloom/armoire from asia?
« on: February 07, 2014, 05:12:42 pm »
Dear Antiquarians,
I've recently inherited this piece from my late grandmother in LA.
It's provenace is a mystery...Japan?China?
It's in good condition except for a little minor crackling of the paint in a couple spots.
The pics don't really do it justice,it's looks nicer in real life.
I beleive the bttm drawers are inlaid with cedar.
If anyone has insights to it's origin, age & value...we would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,James

Do you know around how long she had it?  Do you remember seeing it growing up?  Doesn't look super old.  What is it made of? Solid  Wood or pressed?  What type wood.
