Help me with some old car parts
« on: February 22, 2014, 10:05:04 pm »
Went to a sale yesterday, that had a ton of car stuff.  I don't know anything about old cars, but still picked out a few pieces that look cool.  (I wish I had a clue what was what, there was probably some really good deals)  I did some searching for the first 2 pics, but couldn't find any exact matches.  What type of car do the red lights belong to?  The orange ones are marked "Cats Eye."  Is there an easy way to test them, that you would recommend?

Yes, with a 6V car or lawn mower battery.

The metal case enclosing the lights is the "grounding" wire for the light bulb.

So, hold the metal case against the negative (-) terminal of the battery and touch the end of the dangling wire to the positive (+) terminal.
