Our winter has been mild 40`s to 70`s most of the time !!   And the cold snaps usually only last a couple of days !!  I am just ready to get outside and dig in the dirt !!  Bet yours has been a lot worse,,or so I hear !!

Yeah but the cold snap we got day-before-yesterday was a real winner...down to 12 from 81 the day before and lots of ice/sleet!  Hope you are staying warm Mart.  Most of our ice melted today even tho it was in the 30's.

This quaker looks like a home piece.  Like it tho'!

NO ... NO ..... NO ..... not a home project.

That takes a specialized "copy" lathe to cut that. Same as for gun stocks.

thanks cogar--realizing there are people with crazy talent that goes unnoticed--this really took talent and I'm thrilled to have it

I never understand signatures that are a puzzle themselves..dont they want people to know who they are?

thanks for your thoughts

I apologize for not going into detail.  It was late and I was rushing which is a no no!

I need to explain myself and the "home piece" versus a "home job".  A home job (which I didn't say) would be an attempt of someone to make one at home.  A "home piece" is one that isn't of top collection quality and is one that is a treasured home piece.

Agree it takes a certain piece of equipment to make these beauties.  Someone was trying out a new style on this one!

I would at least try on a forum like a decoy duck forum to see if it is worth more.  They might have people that this is their expertise.

If you find out more, let us know!  :)

Looking at the picture again, due to that big knot on it's back, me thinks it was "rejected" following the 1st lathe "cut" and someone took it home for a souvenir instead of trashing it.

I think it's a neat "keeper" and one a collector of decoys would like to have.
