The u part screws onto the end of the little post so it would turn if you would sit anything on it.

But fabric comes on a bolt from 36 to 54 inches usually !! It just doesn`t seem logical to me !!

I have to assume the hook on the top of the center post is to hang something on which would act as the counter-balance for whatever was draped over the bow rod.

Like hang a bolt of fabric on the hook and drape the fabric over the bow.

Are the ends of the arc/bow finished or open tubing?
