Mart, I would use it for scone and jam in heart beat!!!  I always try and use things for uses other than originally intended!

Just did a gathering where I used gravy boats with platters to hold dips and then put crackers/veggies around on the dishes!  Also use them for candies!  :)

My only comment would be if it held jelly I would assume it would have a place for a spoon, silver or porcelain.
