Would like some info on a vanity and a chest of drawers
« on: April 13, 2014, 12:00:20 am »
I've recently purchased my vanity and chest of drawers. I've looked online to try to find something similar to what I have and I haven't had any luck. I've found a few pictures of the chest I have but no information on them except the price tag. It doesn't help me. :/    I've loaded the images that I have of my items into Google image search and didn't find anything. I have also tried searching the number that I found on the back of the chest and nothing turned up. The numbers are white and they are 23827. I didn't find anything else on both pieces of furniture. The chest of drawers when I bought it was in really bad condition. I had to strip the black paint, pink nail polish, and purple nail polish. Then sand and finally stain it. You can see the from the before/after picture of the chest of drawers. The vanity is in really good condition. I didn't see any markings or stickers on the vanity. I was told it is tiger oak. That is about all I know about both pieces of furniture. Any information about either one would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Tiffany  :)

Well I must say the chest looks better !! I have had many that were given the same awful paint jobs !! The chest looks to be mid to late 20`s !! Hard to tell without close up pics !! You will not find anything by using the numbers on back !! Those numbers are only for company use and it is usually just the style/finish number !!  As a rule furniture is rarely marked with Mfrs name unless very high end furniture so determining who made it is pretty much impossible !! Similar styles were made by Mfrs all across the country !! Your dresser is not Tiger Oak and unless I am way off,,I think it was faux painted with the pattern you see, then varnished to give it a wood look !! Its a bit later than the chest and is likely 1930`s or so !!  I have had several pieces with this faux painting technique !! I made the mistake of stripping one to refinish it !!  Was made out of 4 different woods with ash being the most prominent !!  It difficult to tell the faux painting from the real wood for a novice !!
