antique hockey lamp ,anyone ?????
« on: May 14, 2014, 08:42:38 am »
Hi, I received this as a gift from a 96 year old neighbor from Sweden about 10 years ago. I just hung on to it because I've never seen anything like it. It's cast iron and weighs a ton.  Has anyone ever seen a lamp like this  or knows more about it ? As always, much thanks.

Wow. I have never seen anything like that. It screams Are Deco but looks like it is more like mid century by the wire. If you sold that on Ebay it would bring good money if you got a couple hockey fanatics wanting it. Way cool. I looked online but found nothing like it.

Baby needs a new pair of shoes. Yes definitely ebay and a big thank you to all of you. Everyone whose seen it wanted to buy it, and at an attractive offer. It makes me wonder, and there's only one easy way to find out. I wish she was still alive so that I could ask her about it. I was installing some glass block windows in her basement and saw it sitting in a corner forgotten. I asked her about it and she said, that old thing ? Do you like it ? Yes. You can have it ! Thanks ! She lived very sparingly and only remodeled the house once in the early 50's. No kids. very frugile. When she passed a surviving nephew of her husband inherited. After speaking with the realtor later on I was told that she had over 1 million dollars in a bank account. I would of never guessed.

I didn't sy it was cast iron. I didn't say anything other that I wasn't sure whether it was bronze or brass.

LOL, I didn't see that you even said bronze or brass Greenacres!  Mart was just writing the way she walks.  It was chigato that put the item was cast iron.

I am now seeing what looks like PA to me on center picture, player on right, inside of the right leg near the crotch area.   (Sorry, but didn't know how else to describe.  LOL)

This reminds me of the players that you would see on a trophy.  I am wondering if this wasn't a custom piece made using trophy pieces?  This can go for big bucks just due to the novelty of the item.  If you sell on Ebay, set a reserve!!!  Or Sell on Etsy or Ruby Lane and list a good price for it.  The right buyer will pay for it.

Can you give the dimensions of the piece?

Can you tell what you see as far as initials, markings on the piece go.  Also, can you please post a picture of the underside, cord/connections...
