I'm not a porcelain person, but this looks old to me for a couple of reasons. First is the patina/grunge on the foot on the bottom (don't clean that) It looks like it has a lot of age and wear. Second is that it appears to be hand painted. I would contact John and Eugene at http://www.chineseantiquefurnitureshop.com They have been very helpful when I wanted to better understand some of my Chinese antiques, even though I did not buy it from them.

Hi,
my impression is that this is quite new. Dirt on the base of Chinese Porcelain is often applied artificially to make it look older. The more dirt, the more suspicious it is... Lets see what others think about it.

A well made recent reproduction, although the colours and detail also give away it's age, as do other areas like Mat says. Difficult to pin down exactly but this is modern.
