My daughter recently received a tea service from her grandmother.  It was a wedding gift in 1928.  Stamped on the bottom it says hand painted, made in Japan, and two interlocking diamonds inside the writing that is either T T or T J, I'm not sure.  Just curious about its origins.

go to Japanese marks , and scroll down to Takito Co., marks #849 and 904.  #849 looks like what you described, and is consistent with the date.  

for relative value, check here:  www.kaleden.com and go first to porcelain/pottery, then fine tune as - - tea set Japan - - You may find one similar in style and with the same pieces as yours.  Moriage is a style of decoration, with little raised dots.  It's often on luster pieces.  These can be very expensive, and are usually by Morimura, the predecessor in name of Noritake.  Other companies did make luster, and also the "raised dots".  Style, condition and maker all count to values.  Your set is one of the older ones.  A lovely inheritance.               KB
