Japanese woodblock print signed
« on: May 31, 2014, 02:37:57 pm »
I'm trying to figure out the artist and time period of this woodblock print I got today.  Possibly Shusen?????  Here are pictures of the print and signature.  I have taken it out of the frame to verify that is wasn't a reproduction print.

Hi, are you sure it is a print? To me it looks more like a Chinese painting of the 2nd half of the 20th century. I cannot read the signature or the seal...

I actually thought it was a painting when I took it out but figured a print with risen paint would be more common of a find.  I can feel different layers of paint.  I think it would be around mid century because the people I got it from had several mid century items.  I'll take it out of the frame and post a pic tonight of the signature.  Finally just got my new camera so I can take better pics.  I dropped my last camera on concrete steps at my son's graduation.  :(

I think mid-20th century is very well possible.
