« on: May 13, 2005, 04:59:24 am »
Hi, this is a lovely piece with the monogram of Paul Dachsel, I think? however there are no signs of other usual marks associated and it is an unusual style for him........any ideas or words of wisdom out there?

Amphora's Paul Dachsel mark? HELP!
Hi Ginni, thanks for the reply and also for providing a great site which I am sure all interested in Bohemian ceramics visit regularly.

I agree that it is not the PD monogramme used by Dachsel after leaving Amphora.

However he did monogramme his pieces sometimes for Amphora and if you would like to follow the link below you can see an example on Jason Jacques site, who is a specialist Amphora collector.

The strange thing about this piece is there are no Amphora marks and only the early monogramme. Hence i am not sure of its provenance.

Any further ideas?

Best Regards,
Paul

Paul ~ I stand corrected on the Paul Dachsel initial mark.  You are correct in saying it is his.

I've now added it to my Web site.

Are you sure there is not one of the impressed circle like early Reissner, Stellmacher and Kessel Amphora marks in the middle of the bottom.  My eyes may be playing tricks on me, but I almost see somehting.   :P
