choosing a region to sell items in
« on: June 04, 2014, 04:21:25 pm »
I live in California and am moving to N. Carolina soon. I have a number of large antiques I want to sell but am curious whether they will be valued higher in N. Carolina or California.

What are they? We have members all over who could help but knowing the age and style would help a great deal

That is really tough to identify because the collection is large. Just trying to get a feel for what is the best geographic location for their sale.

I would first get a price on moving them. Without any information it is hard beyond that. Mission styles may sell well in Southern CA where colonial may sell better in the East. But are they period pieces that bring big dollars or are they just old? Moving furniture across the US is expensive. Probably too much to be offset by a difference in markets. But it could. Why don't you at least post some pictures so we know something. Also bear in mind that North Carolina is where most new furniture comes from and it is very inexpensive there.

Thay cabinet full of "flow-blue" or "blue n' white" should get you good money in the Carolinas.

First of all....WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!

I agree with Cogar for the top 2 pictures for sure.

You most likely will get more for the bottom 2 in California if you live in a trendy area.

With the Carolina's being an area with furniture was produced for many, many years it is also a place that people know to look for older quality pieces!

Can you give a little information on the table and wall cabinet please?
