Need help identifying Herend platter/dish
« on: July 05, 2014, 11:39:34 am »
i found a Herend Dish with a handpainted scene of villagers dancing.

It is signed Polyat but i can't find anything online, except 1 vague reference.
It has what i believe is called a basket weave effect around the edge.

Approx 16" x 12"

it has an impressed mark of 101 but no handpainted pattern number.

Im trying to find a pattern name/number and an approximate date, any ideas?

Pólya is a common Polish and Russian name.  T. Polya is artist.

Sorry can't help beyond that.  Maybe someone else will chime in.
I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Found someone in Europe selling one on ebay http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Herend-Large-Oval-Serving-Platter-16-Polya-T-Dancing-Dish-Hand-Painted-/251580886605?pt=UK_PotteryPorcelain_Glass_PotteryPorcelain_China_SM&hash=item3a9363ae4d

Not much more info then you have already but might give you an idea as to it's market value. Also seen a brief mention online of an auction house selling a set signed by the same artist and a date of 1910 is mentioned.
