Compact with Russian Eagle?

I was hoping that someone could  give me an idea of how old this compact is.  I know absolutely nothing about this....any info that you can give me would be appreciated.

Are there any maker's marks anywhere on it? 

This was to hold loose powder.

I have looked closely and not found any makers marks.

It was used to hold "loose powder"?  Is it rightly called a compact or does it go by another name?

Any idea as to age?

Compacts used "loose powder" before the compressed powder cakes came about (that you see so commonly produced in the millions in disposable compacts by Revlon, L'Oreal, Maybelline, etc...).  You bought (or received as a wonderful gift) a compact holder and filled it with the facial powder.  That was once it became the "in thing" to have a powder compact.  Prior to this, you "hid" the fact that you powdered your nose  (Some of the most sought after powder compacts are built inside jewelry pieces, walking sticks, and even ornate hatpins!
