Cat dryer ??  That says Cat. No. 32 !!  Catalogue number !! I can remember these from 50`s but they were also used in the 40`s !!  We had a similar one with a flexible plastic hood and tube that fit over the nozzle !! This was when hair rollers were used !!  They actually worked quite well !!
There was little change in style over a 10 year period or more,, then the hard plastic hood came along !!

Cat dryer ??   ;D ;D ;D .... Didja ever try to wash a cat?

Pre-1960, female "hair drying" was like a once-a-week thingy ..... thus all hair dryers were table or stand models.

When bathroom "showers" became the "norm" then the "working" female had to either wear a "shower cap" .... or "dry" her hair bout every morning and thus the "hand-held" drier became a must-have item.

Oh my goodness...didn't expect that picture.  Laughed so loud the family came to see what the fuss was about!  LOLOL

Nope, don't think this was "originally" made as a cat dryer...but could have warfed into it!

How funny! Yes I think it was ebay or something where I saw a similar
Product and they were indeed calling it
A cat dryer. Not owning a cat for 33 years never hit me that you don't bathe cats often!
Thanks for the info!

Don't despair.

Like most every "new" home appliance, etc., ....... when retail sales of the item starts increasing ...... then several manufacturers "jump in" with their design to get part of the "action".

Also, they oftentimes make a lot of changes during the first year or three to better improve their product and "beat" the competition.

Thus, a particular "model #" might be short lived.
