American Pottery - Is this an antique?
« on: September 01, 2014, 09:51:37 am »
This pottery has been in the family for a number of years. I've always loved the shape of it. I don't know its history and would be interested in seeing if anyone else does. Thanks in advance!

Your water pitcher / jug would probably date back to prior to WWII when electric refrigerators were becoming a common appliance in most homes. Nothing showed like you had arrived more than to be able to serve cold water to your guests, without having to go out to the well with a bucket. :)
I believe Universal Potteries operated for about 20 years, starting in the mid 1930's.

Scroll down here for your jug !!  It says these were made in solid colors,, Two tone could be more rare !!

See if there is an email address at that site !! Send them a pic and ask about yours !!  Then let us know what they say !! You can also look on ebay and see if you can find other two tone jugs,,these could possibly be just a limited run but can still add to the value !!

Of course, "blue n' white" always has been.
