If you TRULY feel that this is that old then take it to a local university or museum and get them to help you with it!

I'm from the South - but please don't mistake my Southern Manners/Accent/Charm as a weakness!

Hi, I do not think that this tile is that old! I know of some painted clay tiles from a Synagogue in Dura Europos, but they date from the 3rd century and look totally different! Of course there were older glazed tiles ( the Assyrians for example had them ), but I do not know of glazed tiles like yours from the time of Jesus (and I studied Classical Archaeology)! Of course I could be wrong, you never know, but in this case I doubt it. To be sure, I would follow KCs advice and show it to a Museum with a Department of Roman Antiquities. What has happened to the other pictures (of the back) I could see yesterday?

thank you KC. What hapend to you? Your always the man that has all the answers.
That's why I come always back to this website. I wanted first a confirmation before I take it somewhere.
I don't want to waist my time and others if this tile turns out to be modern.

Re: is this a old roman clay tile? old language with signs- Jesus ?

found this tilr today between a few garden items.
I think the owner of this tile did some research and made the inscriptions on the back in blue color.
and maybe somebody later on highlight them with black.?
it reads:  jerusalem jordan sea  and the botom reads Jesus and there are also the inscription M.L.
There are two figurs, one of a bull and one of a goat? and next to the figures some strange symbols to me.
somebody maybe more knowledge about this?
got some more pictures in gallery if follow the link.

Wow, I have no idea what could be the meaning of these symbols on the back! Goat and Bulls appaer in the Bible as sacrifices, they could be also Zodiac symbols ( Aries and Taurus), I have no idea what the symbol in the middle could be.. Maybe you should ask Prof. Indiana Jones! Is it a map to find the Holy Grail or the Ark of the Convenant??? ;D

Sorry benbenny if you felt that I did not take you serious. I just tried to say that the writing on the back is REALLY strange and I do not think it will be easy to find out any meaning, also not for somone working at a museum. However, as I said already, I do not think this tile is ancient.
Regards,
Mat

I can't see any pictures as well.  Did you remove them?

I would like to see the back of the piece...then I could give an opinion.  From the front pic I couldn't so I gave the best possible answer.  Didn't want to steer you wrong!  Sometimes holding, seeing a piece in person makes a whole lot of difference!  But if you could repost the pics it would be great!  :)
