fancy strainer with mark

was marked 9.99, got it for 2.00

does anyone know the maker sign on the bottom?

I can't tell who or what the mark is either, I can't tell if its japanese or chinese?

What are the dimensions of the bowl?

Reminds me of one that is a pottery insert for a planter - such as for forcing bulbs.

Yah , it's (holes , that is) the common feature on them , sugarcube5419 .... many  modern ones have an integral 'platter' thrown by the potter at the bottom of the bowl ; others are two-piece sets .

I've used a heavy one like yours for draining & washing fruits & mushies & such .

I can't say for sure on if yours is a  berry bowl , but it's just got the look of one to me ... ;)

Looks like a well-thrown & glazed pot & I'd guess Japanese .

fancypants, majority of berry bowls I have seen over the years have holes in the bottom so water/moisture doesn't collect and rot the berries - but there were fruit bowls made at times to allow air to circulate I have seen.  Collanders have holes in the bottom as well.

Orchid bowls are made in the same manner as this bowl as well.

Oh !!  Orchids !!  That's why the leaves are on the outside !! Mine was in lava rock, no soil !!   Couldn`t figure why the leaves were painted on the outside of a berry/fruit bowl !!  Perhaps your strainer is an orchid planter !!
